“Kathy Nelson’s music is a beautiful example of the power of positive music to inspire and uplift.” – Tom Avena, New Consciousness Radio

Captivating audiences in the Boulder/Denver area with her refreshingly unique indie/pop/folk/sometimes jazzy sound, singer-songwriter/guitarist Kathy Nelson is happily being compared to some of her idols: Joni Mitchell, Jonatha Brooke, Shawn Colvin, Annie Lennox. With 2 CD’s (DREAM, BREATHE) under her belt, Kathy’s original songs include personal and somewhat humorous material as well as lots of highly uplifting and inspiring material that encourages the listener to: dream big, be unique, love deeply, live gratefully, forgive wholeheartedly, keep the faith, seize the day, milk the present moment and more.

Kathy’s music has also received recognition outside the area. Upon entering her first national songwriting competition, she was named a top ten finalist (2 yrs in a row) in Wildflower’s Songwriting Competition and was invited to perform at the Wildflower Music Festival in Houston, TX. Kathy has also been a finalist in Boulder’s Folk Awards and Denver’s Swallow Hill Songwriter’s Competition. Her lyrics have been published in Mystic Pop Magazine. Her song, I Am Here, will be featured in a prime time TV documentary, Dying To Live, in Australia. Kathy has also opened for best selling authors/speakers, Dannion Brinkley (Save By The Light) and Terry Cole-Whitaker (What You Think of Me Is None of My Business) and international speaker/metaphysician Geoffry Hoppe.

In addition to the standard music venues, Kathy also performs as a guest musician at many of the New Thought churches in the area and is a paid musical entertainer at over 30 of the local retirement homes where she performs classic songs from the senior citizens era.
